Tide and time, for nae man bide: Pattern, Intention, Magic

  • Museum of Magic, Fortune-telling & Witchcraft 2 Chalmers Close, 81 High Street Edinburgh United Kingdom (map)

Time, as with all things, moves in patterns, some say cycles, others spirals. Attending to such patterns and coming to know the various influences cycles bring, we can pick opportune, auspicious moments for our magical operations, as well as shape our intentions to align with these currents in our spell-casting making them most effective through the power of sympathy.

In this workshop you will learn about the importance of timing and intention; timing with the Seasons, the Sun, and Earth-Sky-Sea patterns; the role of the Moon and lunar days: use of planetary days and planetary hours: basic applications of astrology; and explore several “folk” magic timings.

The workshop will culminate with the casting of a spell aligned the moment to apply what was learned.

“What may be done at any time will be done at no time.” But, what may be done at a time will be done on time at the right time.

About the Presenter:

John-David Kelley finds his way through portent and presence. He hails from the urban jungle of NYC, the springs of southern Alabama, and the rolling dunes of Florida's Gulf Coast. J-D is a child of wyrd-ness and delightfully dances in the play of the living cosmos.

J-D is a student of magical and mystical traditions both young and old and an enthusiastic practitioner of astrology and astral magic. He has been flirtatiously engaged with Reclaiming Witchcraft tradition since 2002, as of late with the Dragonrise WitchCamp and with eclectic witchcraft formally since the age of thirteen.  For the last eleven years, he has lived in England and Scotland, reconnecting with his ancestors of blood and practice, as well as, the tutelary spirits of these lands.

J-D endeavors to weave the threads of practice and place between the old world and the new. He takes a pan-poly-animist view in most of his goings-on.
